Acrylics & Oils

My language of visualization often draws on the legacy of Surrealism, where fantasy and pastiche play an integral part. Whether in human hybrid compositions, portraits or still lifes, the technique applied privileges the narrative of the line; a style of calculated precision that aims at conveying a story. My art practice explores a variety of mediums, privileging acrylics on canvas or wood that springs from my earlier interest in egg tempera. I am particularly attracted to acrylic paints over oils, which I also use, but infequently, for their water soluble, opaque properties that offer me the freedom to layer colours more quickly.
